Hopkinton DPW
The new 45,470-square-foot facility brings the entire department together, which now has separate operations at 83 Wood St. and 66 Fruit St. The new facility includes a two-story operations building, shops, storage, fuel depot and salt shed. A wash bay will be included to make sure town trucks are well-maintained. Vehicles and equipment that were stored outside can now be stored indoors in a minimally heated environment.
The building’s exterior materials are concrete masonry at the bottom of the exterior walls, with vertical and horizontal metal panel cladding above. Its color matches the earth-tones of the neighborhood. Designed by Weston & Sampson complete with ground improvements, salt shed, fuel island, and materials storage area. Project design challenges included a small site surrounded by wetlands.
